Faculty jobs

The ILGTI is part of the Department of Theoretical Physics of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. It invites applications from outstanding candidates for academic positions. Applicants should have a Ph.D., post-doctoral experience, and a demonstrated excellence in research. The level of the appointment would depend on previous experience of the applicant.

Applicants should email a curriculum vitae, statement of research interests, list of publications and names of three referees to any member of the ILGTI.

Post-docs

Post-doctoral fellowships are one-year positions renewable for a second year and are available to anyone who has a Ph.D. degree or who has submitted a thesis to a recognized Ph.D.-granting institution for such a degree. The fellowship comes with a suitable monthly honorarium and accommodation at a nominal rent.

Persons interested in joining should apply to any faculty member of the ILGTI, with

  1. their full CV,
  2. list of publications,
  3. the statement of research interests, and
  4. copies of upto 3 of the most important (p)reprints (especially if they are not available in the electronic archives).
They should also arrange recommendation letters to be sent by at least three referees. The deadline for the receipt of the complete application is November 15 for January selections and June 1 for the mid-year selections.

Applications sent via email in electronic form are accepted and encouraged.

Research students

Research scholars are selected by the TIFR university cell, which sets up the procedure for selection of candidates. Look up the web pages for physics admissions. Note that the ILGTI is part of the Department of Theoretical Physics. Students desiring to work in lattice field theory should express their desire to do work in theoretical physics.

Visiting scientists and teachers

ILGTI has a thriving program of visiting scientists, including university and college teachers. If you are interested in visiting us or working with us, then please write to any faculty member of the ILGTI, telling us about yourself and your interest. For practical reasons, we would like to request you to start your discussions with us at least half a year before you would like to visit us.

School teachers

While the ILGTI is a research program and has no direct connection with physics teaching at the school level, there are individuals in the program with strong interest in these matters. If you would like to discuss projects with us for your students, or would like to arrange a school visit please write to any faculty member of the ILGTI, telling us about you, your interests and needs. If you are interested in finding teaching aids beyond the usual school curriculum, we are willing to open a dialogue. For practical reasons, we are unable to provide last minute help, but are willing to start a dialogue in advance of your needs.

Summer projects

TIFR has a long-running program of summer projects for university students. Please visit the web page of the Visiting students' research program for more information. The ILGTI is part of the Department of Theoretical Physics of TIFR. If you would like to do a summer project on lattice field theory, then please mention this explicitly in your application to the program. Please remember to apply well in advance for this. Unfortunately we are unable to accept students for summer projects outside of this program.

Internships

Engineering students who wish to complete a project on supercomputing, parallel computation, web-based software development, etc, as part of their course requirements may write to ilgti at theory dot tifr period res fullstop in with enquiries. Internships carry no emoluments, allowances, or housing.

If you wish to work as an intern with ILGTI apply to the above address with
